Increased Model-Realism can Make Processor-Selection Easier

چکیده
A formalization of the processor-set selection problem for parallel job-schedulers is presented and proven to be NP-hard in the strong sense. Nonetheless, a simple algorithm for the problem is presented, and is seen to perform well in practice when used in combination with more realistic, less uniform, cost-structures.
